WHANGAREI TOURNEY.

A NOVEL FINISH. (By Telegraph—Own Correspondent.) WHANGAREI, this day.

The Kensington Bowling Club's handicap pairs competition was decided this morning under novel circumstances. Tibbitts and McMath had had only one loss and so had Waring and Windust. Waring became ill and. the substitute granted to play with Windust defeated Barry and Hilford 24—20. They then met Tibbits yesterday, and lost 25 to 17. McMath being under orders to leave for Ranglora to-day, it was arranged that he and Tibbits should play the final with Curtis and Ous McKay at eight o'clock this morning. The game was played in the presence of a number of spectators and resulted in a win for Tibbitts by 25 to 9. The bowlers later saw McMath off at the station.
