Police Force Honeycombed
With Communists.

HONGKONG, March 28.
A naval wireless report from Swatow, the port of Kwangtung, discloses a serious situation due to the defeat of the Government troops by Communist forces.
Some of the troops have treacherously gone over to the Communists. The city is in a state of panic, for the police force is honeycombed with Communist colls.
Reports from the neighbouring country districts tell of Communist peasant uprising* and of a march by peasants on the city. The fall of the city is tea red to lie imminent.

ATTEMPT TO WIN WORKERS

The '"Daily Tclegiaph" says the Communists in Britain have received orders from Moscow to cultivate workers' sports movements as part of a scheme to build up a workers' defence corps. It is a 1 so hoped that this will aid in the struggle against the activities of bourgeois organisations among the children of working-clas people. particularly aga-nst the Hoy Scouts, the Girl Guides, and the t übs.

CHINESE VIEW OF RUSSIANS

The most notable event in a two days' discussion at the Conference of the Interiiatio -il Missionary Council was an address delivered by Dr. David Yui, of China. He said his country now realised that Russia was not disinterested in offering her friendship, but- Communist propaganda would remain attractive to the masses while economic, social and international problems remained unsolved.
Native women delegates from China, Korea and Japan testified that no religion born or introduced into their countries gave women freedom, except Christianit v.
Bishop Francis .T. MeConnell, of the Methodist F.piscopal Church of America, described Americans as in many respects purely pagan.
