CHILB BIES AFTER FALL,
BOY THROWN FROM HORSE

\VHANGAREI, Wednesday,
While riding a horse at Riponui. a boy named Otto King was thrown otT and hi; right forearm was broken. He was brought to Whangarei Hospital, where he is progressing favourably. A three-year-old lad, Robert Russell, was admitted to the Whangarei Hospital last Friday, suffering from severe wounds in the abdomen, caused through his falling upon some sharp object, probably a bottle. He received surgical treatment, but developed peritonitis and died last night.
While working in the Wilson collieries at Hikurangi yesterday, Jonathan Dawson, aged 59, fell hack into a hole six feet deep. put his hand out in an endeavour to save himself, with the re--1 suit that he broke and dislocated his right wrist. He is now a patient in Whangarei Hospital. Clarence Lane, aged 13, was assisting in mustering at Waiotira yesterday, and in endeavouring to prevent the sheep from breaking he fell and broke both bones of his right forearm. He was admitted to the Whangarei Hospital. During a swimming lesson in the Whangarei School baths this morning Doreen Conaghan evidently fainted in the water, for she sank, Mr. Harris, master in charge of the class, dived in and got her out, and under artificial respiration she recovered in a few minutes.
