CHAMBERS OF COMMERCE.

MEETING AT POKENO

The Pokeno Chamber of Commerce met last evening, the president, Mr. G. Rodgers, presiding.

Messrs. Rodgers, J. Woodcock and T. J. Craney, together with a member to be appointed from Mercer, were elected as the chamber's delegates to the halfyearly conference of chambers of commerce in the Franklin district, to be held at Tuakau next month.

It was decided to send remits to the conference urging the early construction of the Pokeno-Paeroa railway, and the early provision of a metalled road between Whangarata and Pokeno.

It was resolved that the chamber write to the Pokeno Hall trustees and the Franklin County Council, asking that the erection of an up-to-date public hall at Pokeno be expedited.
