DWELLING ON FIRE. After locking his house and walking dcwn the street about two hundred yards, a resident discovered that he had forgotten his tobacco. He returned home and was surprised to see smoke pouring from the kitchen windows. Fortunately he was able to extinguish the flames before much damage was done. A cinder apparently had fallen on to the carpet. The resident is thankful that he returned home to get his Bear's tobacco, the popular smoke, to which he is, like most men now, very partial. Try Bears'! Only 8d an ounce loose, and in handy packets, loz 9d, 2oz 1/6. — (Ad.) The number of blondes participating in things theatrical at the University of California is on the decline. This was revealed at San Francisco with the discovery that of the 300 participants in the annual Parthenia spring masque, "Marra," only four were blondes.
