WHANGAREI, this day.
Some eighty railwaymen assembled in the old Masonic Hall last evening to farewell three officers, who are under transfer. The Mayor presided, and during the evening made the following presentations: To Mr. W. Herbert, loco, foreman for the last two years, a case of pipes and travelling rug; Mr. H. 8. McMath, nineteen months inspector of permanent way, a case of pipes and a travelling bag; Mr. H. J. Revell, eleven years in the loco, office, a tea set, dinner service and oak tray. Eulogistic reference was made to the officers, whose departures are sincerely regretted.
