TROWERN RETURNS.

STILL FULL OF FIGHT.

VICTORIES IN AUSTRALIA.

PROPOSES VISIT TO SOUTH AFRICA

Having further enhanced his ring record in Australia, where he won seven fights out of nine, Reg. Trowern, the well-known Auckland boxer, returned from Sydney by the Marama this morning, looking fit and well after his first visit to the Commonwealth. He is still as anxious as ever to secure bouts, and proposes in the near future to exploit the boxing fields of South Africa.

Trowern said, when interviewed on his arrival, that he had had a previous invitation to go to South Africa, but he

postponed his visit to avoid the summer months. It 1? possible that his tour of that country will now coincide with the visit of the All Blacks, as Trowern believes that they will pave the way for a favourable reception for New Zealanders in general.

The Aucklander was quite pleased with the recention he was accorded in Australia, an<3 he will possibly return there at a. later date. "I got a good hearing from the crowds," he said, "because they like a fighter. The only man to beat me was Tommy Fairliall. who pot the dwisTon In each of two bouts. From the Press clippings, I was considered to be unlucky in both cases."

Trowern was somewhat incensed at the suggestion made by Pilkington, the Australian boxer, that he is not as good as he was formerly. "Pilkiniton says it will not be many years before I am done but that is only a personal grievance. I am anxious to fight Pilkington if he is still in New Zealand."

Trowerr. will also seek other engagements before he leaves for South Africa. Speaking of Australian boxers, he said that Norman Gillespie, the featherweight champion of Australia, of Melbourne. proposes to pav a visit to the Dominion in the near future.
