WEDDINGS OF THE WEEK.
CORNWELL—PARKS
Dressed in a gown of ivory georgette, Miss Elva Havigal Parks made a charming bride at her wedding to Mr. Thomas Edward Corn well, which took place at the Epsom Baptist Church this afternoon. The Rev. L. C. H. Barbour officiated. Miss Elva Parks is the eldest
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. Parks, of King Edward Avenue, Epsom, and Mr. Thomas Cornwell, the eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Cornwell. of London. The bride looked charming as, on her father's arm, she passed through the guard of honour, consisting of a band of trim Girl Guides, and came down the aisle of the prettily decorated church. Her frock was a French model with full podice, which draped softly, and skirt of long petals, which were edged with fine pleating and trimmed with three tiny bands of white Duchess satin. The new style fichu, which also had a pleated edge with the satin trimming, was most distinctive, and a spray of orange blossoms on one shoulder completed a charming picture. Her veil was of Honiton lace. It was arranged softly on the head, kept in place by a chaplet of orange blossom, and fell softly over the shoulders, forming a long train. The bride carried a beautiful shower bouquet of white flowers and asparagus fern, looped with white satin ribbons. Following in her wake were six bridesmaids, whose dainty frocks seemed like a rainbow. First to come were Miss Olive Parks in turquoise j blue taffeta and Miss Marjorie Rogers in primrose taffeta. Their frocks were! fashioned with tight fitting bodices and full skirts, at the hem of which was a band of tulle; the gowns were finished on one shoulder by a floral spray. Miss Elsie Watts, in coral pink taffeta, and Miss Iris Diver, in electric blue taffeta, wore frocks similarly made, but trimmed with two rows of frills at the bottom of the skirt. Miss Mora Chester and Miss Gwen Parks were in mauve taffeta and rosemarie taffeta respectively, their frocks having scalloped hems. Around their heads the bevy of bridesmaids wore tulle swathings to tone with their frocks, and they carried Victorian posies. The bridegroom was supported by Mr. Fred Massam as best man, and Mr. Fred Cornwell as groomsman. The ushers were Mr. Bert Parks and Mr. Harold Ansley. After the ceremony a reception was held at the home of the bride's parents, where about seventy .guests were entertained. The huge marquee, which was erected on the lawn, was beautifully decorated with masses of flowers set among grenery, and over the bridal couple three floral wedding bells were suspended. Mrs. Parks received the guests wearing a frock of navy blue crepe de chine, trimmed with fawn and floral scarf, and navy hat with bird of Paradise plumes. She earned a small POSy, . -.■•ttiwrr.n,,
