land Hebrew Congregation a portion of their cemetery in Karaugahape Road oame before the City Council last night, and the Council decided to reverse its previous decision on the matter. We need not enter into all the details of the ease at present, but? in our opinion the general public has a right to know why the! Council has so completely changed its policy.' The Council agreed to this transfer, on condition that appropriate legislation, was passed. That condition was duly carried out, ind the clause by which the transfer waa to be effected was considered, modified, and virtually redrafted by the Council it«elf. ; What we would like to know i», why this sHme Council thinks it necessary to repudiate completely the decision it reached four or five inoptbs ago with ftdl knowledge of the facts. 1 To prevent the general public from misinterpreting its motives the Council should make the position a little clearer.
