WAITEMATA COUNTY COUNCIL.
At yesterday's meeting of the Waitemata County Council the following additional business was transacted, Mr. H Day presiding:— Henderson to Helensville Main Highway* It was resolved to make application to have this highway declared a Government road to carry a maintenance subsidy of £3 to £1. TT G J en o Eden " We «t Coast Road.—The Under-Secretary of Public Works advised that it would be a waste of money to set up a further commission regarding the proposal to concrete this road as Mr. ohort (commissioner) had already made a recommendation after taking full evidence to construct a t»r and bitumen-sealed road, and the evidence would be practically the same. It was therefore proposed •o issue a warrant in accordance with Mr. Shorts recommendation and apportion the cost, but before doing so he would be glad 0 ,, , ar that the council agreed that nothing would be gained by setting up a further commission. The county engineer (Mr, Murray) said that application had een made to have this road considered as a secondary highway to be, .fit by the distribution of the Petrol Tax, and on his advice it was decided to ask that the issue of the warrant be delayed till the Boot" W aettled with the Highways Kaipara River.—lt was resolved to complain to the Government of the delay in setting up the commission to determine the constitution of the Kaipara River Board, as many farms had been flooded through willows blocking the river bed. the inclusion of the Waitaßere River in the proposed area was also recommended.
