McMahon, single, aged' 50, and died while assisting to receftj carp* in the hold. The Apanui arrivff at Auckland at two o'clock this m«l®' n S from Mercnry Bay and brought the body with it. • t" Mr. McMahon had been in t»e employ of the Northern Steamship Co®P an y_ for fifteen vears. and when ashol* resided at 56, Sale Street, Freeman'rfPay. As far as it is known he has no relatives in New Zealand. An inquest was this mornißf openeo before the coroner, Mr. F. K. Hijt, S.M., and evidence on the above WM given by the chief officer and a„*eatnan. The inquiry was then adjourned sine die in order that a post mortal examination may be held.
