• A scheme calculated to reduce the hazards of settlers in the first few yearn has been evolved by the Zoutpansberg branch of the 1820 Settlers' Memorial Association, whereby in the event of a new settler experiencing difficulty in tne early stages of farming every member of the branch undertakes tot give him a good cow. A needy settler will thus receive thirty to forty good cows with which he will be able to overcome his difficulties and start afresh.
