MUNICIPAL MARKET.

SUCCESS QUESTIONED. THE CHRISTCHURCH VENTURE. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) CHRISTCHURCH, this day. There was a difference of opinion among members of the United Burgesses' Association when they were asked to support the principle of a municipal market. One speaker contended that the City Council had not succeeded in giving cheaper fruit ond vegetables. Another member declared that the council had acted unwisely in selecting a site for the market, but the principle was sound. Fish, he said, "was cheaper now than it had been for years, because large quantities were not sent to the destructor now. Tlje market was unsatisfactory in its present position, but it had reduced prices. Retailers had to come down in order to save themselves.

Finally it was agreed to refer the question to the allied associations.
