I MANUREWA CLUB. ffhe Mannrewn Tennis Club held a social evening in the Public Hall Inst night, over sixty young, people being, present despite the extremely, unpleasant weather conditions Which prevailed. During an interval in the ptogrnmft the president (Mr. W. L. Smith), behalf of the members, made a presentation of a ;<Ji»inty silver cake stand and stain--1«W« cutlery to Miss Vera Warlieh and Mr. LfVreaaV'Cra, whose marlage takes place lit the near futnre. Mr. Smith referred to tfcp esteem lh which the guests were held by taelr fellow members as l a result 'of many yJprs' connexion with the club, and expfessed the hope that sneh pleasant association would continue for a lengthy period. Hla remarks were greeted with applause, followed, tw, the. singing of "For they are Jolly good fellows/' after which Mr. Cox Suitably spiled. - -■A progammt of dancing was thoroughly enjoyed by those present, a Monte Carlo waits being won by Miss Mavis Glbbs and Mr-. D. Warlieh. Excellent music was provided by Mt; -A; Donaldson and members. Popular, soovi were rendered by Madam Atfoen Frost, Miss Mavis Gibbs and Mr. R. Donaldson. also a pianoforte solo by Miss Joyce Hewitt. A dainty supper was served bjr the lady members.
