RIFLE SHOOTING,
UTIKU DEFENCE RIFLE CLUB. (From Our Own Correspondent.) TAIIIAPE, Saturday. The final shoot for the Championship Belt and Marsh Cup was lield at Utlku on 'J'buisdav under the auspices of the Utiku Defence Kille Club. Shooting conditions' were poor owing to the haziness of the atmosphere, due to recent bush llres. However shooting, despite this handicap, was excellent, ami some good performance.-; were recorded. The Championship Belt was'won by G. E. Anderson, with an aggregate season total of 2119 points. The totirsli Cup was annexed hy 11. C. Kenton, with -oil points to his (■[■ edit. The Thames Hod and Gun Club held its fortnightly shoot on Saturday afternoon under adverse weather conditions. Results are:— No. 1 Match, 7-bird ' Sweepstake.—A. Brien. G. Thompson, E. Thornton and Dr. Biggins shot the possible. In the shoot-oft' A lirien and G. Thornton divided. No. 2 Match, Dovell's Trophy— G. Thompson, S. Sparke, W. It. Smith. W. Sparke and G. Shaw all shot the possible. ' In the shoot-off W. R. Smith won on the 18th bird. Shaw was second and W. Sparke third. No. 3 Match, C.A.C. Cup, 10 birds.—G. Thompson,' Dr. Liggins and \V. It. Smith shot the possible. In .the shoot-off Liggins won on the 31st bird. •Thompson was second and W. It. Smith third. No. 4 Match, 7-bird Sweepstake.—Dr. Liggins and S.- Sparke each shot the possible and divided the stake.
