HUNTLY HOSPITAL.

HIGHER STATUS SOUGHT,

(By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) HAMILTON, this day. Two Huntly local bodies asked the Waikato Hospital Board to-day to place the Huntly Hospital 011 the same footinsr as To Kuiti, by subsidising doctors to enable patients to be treated for the same fees as are charged at the base hospital. M.r. Campbell Johnstone, the chairman, said tho two eases were not analagous. Te Kuiti Hospital was actually a general hospital, and was a long distance from the base, while the Huntly institution was erected solely for maternity ca>es. Personally, he did not consider the board could do any more for Huntly than it was doing at present. Maternity cases at Huntly and Te Kuiti were treated on the same basis. Mr. Smith, the Huntly representative, did not consider the Huntly institution would be satisfactory until it was made a general hospital. Very few maternity cases entered the hospital; not nearly as toany as the general cases. 'Eb© matter was referred to the comtaittee.
