R. W. LAMB'S REPLY.

BECOMES A CASH CYCLIST

(Received 11.30 a.m.)

MELBOURNE, this day.

R. W. Lamb, the well-known champion amateur cyclist, has decided to turn professional. It is understood that he came to this decision as the result of tlio Victorian Amateur Cyclists' Union not recommending him for selection to represent Australia at the Olympic Games.

The decision not to recommend R. W. ("Fatty") Lamb for a place in the Australian Olympic team resulted in a fierce controversy in Sydney, prominent followers of cycling stating the opinion that Lamb's performances were above the average Olympic standard, and hinting that personal spite and trade influence were behind the decision not to nominate him.
