MODERN MAN
IS LIKE A SPONGE.
LONDON, February 3. _ Civilised man's tendency to behave like a sponge, mopping up the ideas and of those about him, without bothering to reason for himself must give rise to a certain amount of alarm, said Dr. Crichton Miller, a leading British psychiatrist, in a lecture. 'We are in the grip of the herd instinct," he declared, "and the human herd instinct is the same as the animal. *t does not matter whether it is a bison herd or a Mayfair herd, any individual breaking the law of the herd is horned out, so that the only hope for a person who goes to Mayfair and Bays, You are all wrong,' is to find a herd which agrees with him."
