The T.B. patients are having an outing to-day to Bucklands Beach. Most of the secondary schools reopened to-day for the year's work after the long vacation. Claude Ingley, a young man, was electrocuted -while working on a power line in Waitohu Valley. Young farmer at Opouriao slid off haystack and was pierced by a pitchfork. He died in hospital. A youth who robbed a shop last evening in Ponsouby and was caught after a long chase appeared before the Police Court this morning. Underground electric cable in front of the G.P.O. fused this morning, but no inconvenience was caused to any of ihe electric installations. A further estimate of the damage done by fire yesterday morning at Tonson Garlick's Newton premises places the loss at £30,000. A husband and wife and their fire children found living in an empty hut at Orakei yesterday were before the Court to-day on vagrancy charges. The Minister of Education opens a school at Whakatane to-morrow to replace the one recently destroyed by fire, and on Thursday he will open the new high school at Rotorua.
