NO EVIDENCE OF FOUL PLAY.

DEATTH OF CHAREES MAHAN. WOUNDS CAUSED BY FISH. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) CHRISTCHURCH, Monday. The consensus of opinion of three doctors who made a post-mortem examination of the body of Charles James Mahan is that the wounds on the body were caused by the bites of fish, and that death was due to drowning. Although it was at first thought that Mahan had been murdered, the doctors found that the man's injuries could not have caused his death. There were no marks of a struggle of any sort. The inquest will be resumed as soon as the police have received certain information from Timaru, where Mahan was employed as a stock buyer.
