COUNTRY SHOWS.

UPPER WAIROA.

FINE SHEEP AND JERSEYS

LIST OF AWARDS. Central situation largely accounted for a record public attendance <-it the seventh annual show of the Upper "Wairoa Agricultural and Pastoral Association, ■which tvas held at Tangiteroria on Saturday. There ■was a big contingent of cars from Wliangarei, Mangakahia Valley, Dargaville and other Wairoa River settlements. Particularly noticeable was the largo classes in the ring events, competition being Veen, and some particularly tine animals called forth favourable comment from the judge. Entries in the draughts, heavy and light, were not many, but up to show standard. Cattle were represented by Jerseys. Shorthorns and Friesians. Jerseys piedominating. The Jersey judge, who officiated in a similar capacity when the first show was held seveu years ago, commented on the improvement in all classes, especially young stock, which proved that owners'were working on the right lines. In marked contrast were the Shorthorns, which lacked preparation, and were in poor condition, due primarily to the exceedingly dry season. Sheep were the most outstanding feature of the show, being of excellent quality and breeding, chiefly confined to Romneys. These were particularly fine, and the entries constituted a recordFollowing are the results of the major sections : — HORSES. Judge, Mr. T. Bezar- (WhangareH. Heavy Draught.—Pair heavy draughts : J.
