QUEENSLAND SUGAR CROP.

A B:G INCREASE. Concerning t!ie sugar crop in Queensland, J. B. Were and Son, of Melbourne, report undi-i date of January '20: — Drought conditions have definitely broken over 75 per cent of the pastoral areas of Queensland, but out towards the South Australian border conditions arc still dry, and the north and north-east pastoral country in South Australia requires tank rains to replenish water supplies. As a partial offset to last year's drought in much of the pastoral country, Queensland will have a record sugar crop this season of about 457,000 tons, or nearly 100.000 tons more than last year, but approximately the same as in 1925-26.
