Hogan, said that the Railway Department, and the closer settlement activities bad become financial catastrophies. The State was losing £1.000.000 on these activities. Motor competition was a 6erious thing for the railways. The Trades Hall Council have decided to seek a conference with the Parliamentary Labour party to advise the Railway Union "to hold stop-work meetings until all men dismissed have been reinstated. There is much opposition in union circles to the retrenchment proposals.
