Four men standing at a coffee stall near Charing Cross Bridge, on the Embankment in the early hours of the morning, were knocked down by an elderly man in evening dress whom they had insulted> The man in dress clothes, who is said to have been over fifty, had stopped at the coffee stall with a woman friend, also in evening dress. The four men, who seemed to resent their appearance, made some offensive remarks. Then the elderly man took off his coat and set about them. When they "got up from the pavement they bolted. When the police arrived, the athletic old man gave them his card and explained the circumstances of the four to one fight.
