WANGANUI, this day.
Another Gilbertian situation has arisen in regard to Yep Poy, charged with having Opium in his possession in a form suitable for smoking. It waa discovered by the Court yesterday that the Medical Officer for Health for Wellington was the only person who could lay «i'information. This duly came to hand to-day, but another flaw was found by the detectives: That they could not •ct in support of the information, and that either the medical officer, or some ode for him, would have to conduct the asked for a remand till Thursday, but Mr. Pleasants opposed thjs, and submitted that the information should be dismissed. Magistrate Barton said the Chinaman had already appeared twice before him in custody, and when he could not get bjJJ vesterday took it in very a philosophioal and said: "All li! Only one night" He was not going to hold him any longer. Mr. Barton therefore instructed Yep Poy be summoned to gppjar on Thursday morning next.
