LAWN TENNIS.
NORTH ISLANb TOURNEY.
OFFERED TO AUCKLAND.
An unexpected effect of the drought experienced in the province for the past two months has been a revision of the locale of the North Island tennis championships, which had been scheduled for April 6 to Hamilton. A fortnight ago the Waikato Association advised the New Zealand Council that on account of the continued dry weather the local courts were not in a proper condition for championship play, and the council has offered North Island championship events to the Auckland Association. The offer will be considered by the Auckland Association's executive at its meeting on Tuesday evening. Whetner or not uie local grass courts, which have suffered severely by -no long pell of dry v.eather, can be nursed into . -isfactory championship condition by April, is the question the executive will nave to decide.
Meantime the Waikato Association is doubtful of having the Hamilton Club's courts in sufficiently good order for the holding of the usual Waikato championships at Easter.
