MUNICIPAL BUTCHER'S SHOP.
OPENED IN CHRISTCHURCH.
RETALIATION EXPECTED
(By Telegraph—Own Correspondent.)
CHRISTCHURCH, Friday
When the municipal market was first constructed in Christchurch it was authoritatively stated that the city butchers would not tolerate the opening of a butcher's shop in the market, and if any such licence were given bv the City Council they threatened to "leave the council's abattoirs and have their animals slaughtered elsewhere. An up-to-date shop was opened in the tw i f , mornin g and it is likely that the butchers will retaliate.
