DEEP-SEA FISHING.
MAYOR ISLAND WATERS. BIG THRESHER CAUGHT. (By Telegraph—Own Correspondent.) TAURANGA, Tuesday. A thresher shark, estimated to weigh over 5001b and measuring sft lin in girth, was caught by Mr. E. Cross, of Christchurch, when fishing with Mr. A. Court and party in the launch Ruamano off Mayor Island. The shark fought for three hour#.
Mr. Cross, and also Mr. R. Noton, of Auckland, Mr. Campbell, of England, and Mr. D. Manson, of Christchurch, caught makos of good size.
