SANDERS CUP.

PROBLEM OF MEASUREMENTS

A WELLINGTON DISCUSSION-

WELLINGTON, this day.

Comment on the proposal of Mr. Andrews, owner and builder of the Betty, twice winner of the San »?rs Cup. that the conditions governing the contests should be refrained at the Dominion conference at Stewart Island on February 16, occupied some time at last night's meeting of the Wellington Yacht and Motor Boat Association.

The chairman, Mr. Moffat, suggested having the boats on the scene a week before the races and measured by the official measurer.

Mr. Crawford thought the idea of the suggestion at C'hristchurch last year that the official measurer be sent round the Dominion three months before the contests was' to give provinces whose boats were put out a chance to build new boats. The chairman said it would cost a lot of money to send the measurer round.

Mr. Jukes said Mr. Andrews' idea was to go into the whole question of plans, specifications and conditions, and have them overhauled.

ill". Duncan: They can't amend them this year. There are no remits.

The Chairman: They could certainly tighten them up. Mr. Crawford was not in favour of the conditions being altered. "If you alter them now that every province is represented by Rona boats for the first time in history you are looking for trouble," he said.

Mr. Duncan thought nothing could be done until the different associations were advised and went thoroughly into the matter.

The Chairman: My idea is simply to tighten up conditions, and leave less guesswork.

Delegates were given a free hand if the question were raised at the conference.
