COSGRAVE IN CANADA

Special Train Derailed Near

OTTAWA, Januarv 30.

A special Canadian National Railway train bringing the President of the Irish Free State, Mr. W. T. Cosgrave, to Ottawa from Philadelphia, was derailed at Limoges. Mr. Cosgrave and his party were uninjured, though one member of the train crew was killed and several others injured. A plot against Mr. Cosgrave Is feared. It is believed that the engine of the train ran into an open switch. The officials of the Canadian National Kailway have sent a special train to convey Mr. Cosgrave the remaining 30 miles to Ottawa.

Reports that the disaster had constituted an attack on Mr. Cosgrave's life caused Secret Service officers and mounted police to rush to the scene of the disaster. They were under orders to make a complete investigation in

order to determine whether someone had tampered with the switch.

A thorough investigation into the disaster has been ordered by the Hon. C. A*. Dunning, Minister for Railways. (A. and N.Z. and Sydney "Sun.")
