AWANUX WIRELESS STATION

METALLING OF MAIN ROAD,

(By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.)

KAITAIA, this day.

Mr. A. Fellow, officer in charge of the Awanui wireless station, has been transferred to Faeroa as postmaster. It is reported that it is the Government's intention shortly to remove the wireless apparatus at Awanui. At present three operators and one engineer remain at the station; all the others have been transferred.

Tho metalling of the clay road from Mangamuka to the metalled portion at Rangiahua has been completed. The work was delayed by a strike of lorrymen, but the dispute was settled when other lorries came along and did the carting. Tho road from Kaitaia to the railhead is now good, except for potholes in the part between Ohaeawai and Otiria.
