POLICE PROMOTION.

(By Telegraph—Own Correspondent.)

WHANGAREI, Friday

Inspector J. W. Hollis was entertained last evening by members and supporters of the Whangarei Municipal Silver Band. He was presented with an enlarged photograph of the band and committee. The Mayor (Mr. H. J. Brake) presided, and paid a glowing tribute to Inspector Hollis' work as police officer, vice-president of the band, and citizen. The proceedings were marked by great enthusiasm and Inspector Hollis received the hearty good wishes of an assembly which filled the bandroom to its utmost capacity.
