THE BOARD'S REPORT

The New Zealand Dairy Producs Board has received the following market report from its London office, dated December

Butter.—New Zealand: Salted, IC2/ to 164/; unsalted, 166/ to 170/; market fteady; deliveries New Zealand last week, 1200 tons; in store, 3600 tons. Australian: Best salted, 156/ to 160/; unsalted, 150/ to JXv £ r S entin e: Finest unsalted, 150/ to 156/. Danish; 186/, spot, and 171/, fob • creamery, unsalted, 186/ to 190/. SiberianSalted, 152/ to 154/. Retail prices: New Zealand, 1/7; Danish, 1/8. Cheese.—New Zealand: White, 91/ to 94/; coloured, 91/ to 94/; market firm. Canadian: Finest white, 100/ to 104/coloured, 100/ to 102/. English: Finest farmers, 126/ to 130/. The retail price has been reduced to 1/. The board has also received the following advice from its agents in Canada in connection with butter:—New York, 52 cents; Montreal, 36V6 cents; San Francisco, 48 cents. Stocks of butter in Montreal, 145,975 boxes; last year, 39,353 boxes. Messrs. Joseph Nathan and Sons report having received the following cable from their London house, Trengrouss and Nathan, Tooley Street:—Butter, 162/ to 164/ per cwt. Cheese, 94/. Both markets quiet. Messrs. A. H. Turnbull and Co. are in receipt of a cable from their principals, Messrs. W. Weddel and Co., Ltd., dated London, December 30, reading:— Danish butter: 182/ to 184/. New Zealand unsalted butter, 166/ to 170/; salted, 160/ to 164/. Market steady. New Zealand Cheese: White and coloured, 91/ to 94/. Market firm. Canadian: White and coloured, 100/ to 104/. HEMP MARKET QUIET. The Department of Agriculture has received the following cablegram dated December 30 from the High Commissioner for New Zealand, London:— Tallow.—No auction this week. Hemp.—The market is very quiet during the holidays, and little or no business has been done. Quotations are nominal. Eggs.—The market is firm and the demand continues good. Prices are:—English, 24/ to 25/ per long 100; Belgian and Dutch, 22/ to 23/; Danish, 26/; French, 19/ to 21/; Russian, 12/6 to 13/6; Egvptian. 9/ to 9/6. WOOL AND TALLOW. LONDON, January 2. Stocks of tallow are:—Casks in stock 3532; imports, 670; deliveries, 1268. At Bradford the market is irregular Spinners are keen to buy, but at slightly below quotations. LOND«_.J TIN STOCKS. LONDON, January 3. The stocks of tin are 14.862 tons; spot. 1787; afloat, 1942; deliveries, 2992. THE PRICE OF GOLD. Gold is quoted at 84/10% per oz.
