THE WESTFIELD MARKET. VALUES WELL MAINTAINED. PIGS SELL BETTER. The supply of beef cattle at Westfield yesterday was of average size and there was a steady demand at a slightly lower range of values. liime quality, both in eheep and lambs, met with a ready sale at late rates, but heavy ewes were easier in price. An average yarding of pigs met a better demand and prices improved slightly. Stores were dull of sale. DALGETY AND COMPANY. Dalgety and Co., Ltd., report:— Beef. —There was an average yarding of beef and a good number of cows and heifers. Competition was erratic, and values as a whole were inclined to be somewhat easier. Extra choice ox sold to 32/ per 1001b; choice and prime, 28/ to 31/; just killable, 24/ to 27/; prime young cow and heifer beef, 24/ to 27/; just killable, 21/ to 23/. Sheep.—There was an average yarding, there being little or no change in values. Heavy prime wethers made £1 6/6 to £1 8/6; medium, £1 4/ to £1 6/3; light and unfinished, £1 1/ to £1 3/6; heavy prime ewes, £1 to £1 2/6; lighter, 16/6 to 19/6; other ewes, 10/ to 14/6. Lambß came forward in average numbers. Competition was steady throughout and values were firm at late rates. Heavy prime lamb made £1 8/; medium, £1 3/6 to £1 5/6; light, £1 1/6 to £1 2/6.

Calves. —A fair yarding, values being on a par with last sale. Runners made £3 to £4 12/; heavy vealers, £3 5/ to £4; medium, £2 9/ to £3 4/; light, £1 15/ to £2 6/; rough, 12/ to £1 2/; fresh dropped, 3/ to £1 6/.

Pigs.—There was an average yarding, prices being slightly better than last 6ale. ADDINGTON STOCK MARKET PRICES DECLINE. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, Wednesday. Average entries were forward at the Addington market to-day and values generally showed a decline on the preChristmas sale. Store Sheep.—Forward 4 and 6-tooth crossbred wethers made 24/3 to 25/7; medium 4 and 6-tooth, 22/ to 24/; good 2-too.thed, 21/6 to 22/; inferior 2-toothed, 17/6 to 20/; 4, 6 and 8-toothed ewes, 27/6 to 28/3; 2-tooth, 25/ to 26/10; 2-tooth woolly halfbred, 38/9; forward mixed sex lambs, 24/1 to 24/6; medium, 22/10.

i at Lambs.—With a small entry values went back to the export basis, which this week is 9Vsd per lb for 36's and under. Exporters were enabled to buy comfortably within their schedule. Extra prime lamb made up to 34/4; prime, 27/6 to 31/; medium, 24/6 to 27/; light, 22/9 to 24/1.

Fat Cattle.—The total of 500 was more than required for a midsummer sale. Extra prime heavy steers made up to £18 7/6; prime, £17 10./, £12 10/ to £14 10/; light, £8 to £12; extra prime heifers, to £14 12/6; prime, £11 to £12 15/; medium, £8 to £10 10/; light, £6 10/ to £7 15/.

Fat Sheep.—An easing of 1/ to 1/6 per head on the pre-Christmas sale was experienced and values were near an export basis. Factories bought a proportion of the entry of lighter sorts. Extra prime wethers realised to 35/4; prime, 29/6 to_3l/6; medium, 26/ to 29/; light' 23/ to 25/6; extra prime ewes, 29/ to 32/10prime, 22/6 to 26/6; medium, 19/ to 22/ • light, 15/ to 18/.

Vealers. A 6mall entry and a good 6ale. Iwelve to 18-months sorts made up to £6 10/; good vealers, £4 10/ to £5 17/6medium, £3 7/6 to £4 7/6; calves, 4/ to 10/.
