MAN SAYS XT FOLLOWED HIM. THEFT CHARGE TO BE HEARD. The tale Of a black-and-tan collie dog is to be told at the Police Court on Thursday morning, for when Claude Randolph Marmont (37) appeared before Mr. W. R. McKean, S.M., this morning, charged with drunkenness in Symonds Street yesterday and theft of the dog, worth £8, on August 27 last, the police obtained a remand until Thursday. Marmont was fined 10/ for getting drunk. In respect of the charge of theft he said that the dog followed him, and he borrowed 12/6 on it. "He pledged it for 12/6, he means," said Sergeant Flanagan.
