ROUGH IN COOK STRAIT.

ferry steamer delayed.

MUCH WATER SHIPPED.

(By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) CHRISTCHURCH, this day. The ferry steamer Wahine encountered a sou'-west gale on her trip from Wellington, and did not arrive at Lyttelton until 9.25 a.m.

The vessel shipped much water on her way across Cook Strait, and it is reported that two or three of the steerage passengers were thrown out of their bunks, so violent were the seas.
