Amalgamated Dairies, Ltd., report on cables received from world-centres as under:—
London, 26th.—Butter, "Anchor," 178/: firsts, 174/ to 176/; unsalted, 192/. Stored selling 170/ to 172/. Market quieter And slightly weaker. Danish, 205/ spot; 194/ f.o.b. Deliveries New Zealand last week, 1300 tons; in store, 3400 tons. Retail unchanged. Cheese: White, 102/; coloured, 100/; matured, 104/. Market firmer, with better demand. Canadian: Finest white, coloured, spot 102/ to 104/; Octobers, 104/ to 106/; Septembers, no c.i.f. business. Retail unchanged. Argentine last week, 1025 tons.
New York.—Extras. 51% cents (1/6%' t.o.b. Auckland). Montreal.—37* cents (1/5 f.o.b. Auckland).
Australia.—lt is reported that the duty on butter and cheese is to be increased to 6d per lb. Production in the Commonwealth is now about equal to that of the! corresponding period-of last year. | Port Caroline.—The underwriters are selling on behalf of the consignees, and the .difference between prices realised and the market value will be met by the underwriters.
Messrs. A. H. Turnbull and Co. are in receipt of a cable from their principals, Messrs. W. Weddel and Co., Ltd., dated London, November 25, reading:—
Danish butter, 204/; New Zealand unsalted, 188/ to 192/; salted, 172/ to 178/. Market quiet. New Zealand Cheese: White, 100/ to 102/; coloured, 99/ to 101/. Market steady. Old season's, 104/. Canadian cheese: White and coloured, 102/ to 106/.
The N.Z. Dairy Produce Board has received the following market report from "*ta London agency, dated November 25:—
Butter.—New Zealand salted, 172/ to 176/, according to grading date up to 178/ to 180/; unsalted, 188/ to 192/; market quieter. Australian finest salted, 172/ to 176/; -unsalted, 184/ to 188/. Argentine finest unsalted, 170/ to 176/. Irish Creamery salted, 172/ to 174/; unsalted, 178/ to 180/. Dutch Creamery unsalted, 202/ to 206/. Siberian salted, 158/, 160/ to 162/. Danish, 204/ up to 206/. Retail prices unchanged.
Cheese.—N.Z. new season's white, 100/ to 102/; coloured, 99/ to 101/; old season's matured, white and coloured, 104/; market firm, better demand. Canadian finest, white and coloured, October make 102/ to 104/, September make 104/ to 106/; practically no c.ii. business passing. English finest farmers, 126/ to 130/; retail prices unchanged. Port Caroline dtunage involves 30,700 boxes butter, about 700 crates cheese. Underwriters selling behalf consignees, adjusting difference between sale and sound va'uc on the usual basis.
The board has also received the following advice from its agent in Montreal:— Butter.—Montreal, 37* -.cents (1/6%); New York, 51% cents (2/1 X). Cheese.—Montreal, 19% cents (9%d). Total Canadian exports of butter and cheese.-r-May 1 to October 8, 1927: Boxes of butter, 5101; boxes of cheese, 706,773. May 1 to October 8, 1926: Boxes of butter, 112,796; boxes of cheese, 916,773. Decrease: Boxes of butter, 107,605, equals 96 per cent; boxes of cheese, 210,000, equals 22 per cent. -
