SMITH OR HOOVER?
U.S. NEXT PRESIDENT.
Disclosures Of Unofficial Poll.
OTHERS IN THE RACE.
(By Cable.—Press Association. —Copyright.)
(Received 10.30 a.m.) WASHINGTON, November 20. Interest has been attracted in political circles by a poll of newspaper editors and political leaders throughout the country, conducted by a political magazine regarding the Presidential election.
This forecasts the nomination of Mr. Al. Smith, as Democratic candidate, and Mr. Herbert C. Hoover, as Republican.
It was presumed that Mr. Coolidge would not be an aspirant.
Mr. Smith received many times more votes than any others, Senator Reed being second in the Democratic choice.
Sir. Hoover, however, maintained only a small lead over ex-Governor Lowden, of. Illinois, as the Republican choice.
