After heavy rain overnight, the weather cleared to bright sunshine for resumption of the match between New Zealand and The Rest, New Zealand continuing with 292 for seven, the r.ot out batsmen being McGirr (12) and James (2). The first ball of the day from Newman bowled McGirr, who played over the ball. When Bernau and James were together the scoring was slow. James pulled a short one from Read for four and sent another for six, the first of the match. Newman, who was bowling well, got Bernau with a leg break. 32G—9—16. Merritt had scarcely got in when James was stumped oil Newman, and with the total at 339 the innings closed. The Rest In Again. Langridge and Newman opened The Rest's second innings.
