GUILTY OF MURDER.
PICNIC TRAGEDY SEQUEL. (Received 12.30 p.m.) ADELAIDE, this day. William Haines (26) was found guilty of tlie murder at Bridgewater, of Devine Xellie Schmidt, aged 18. Sentence was deferred. While a picnic was being held at Bridgewater, a hillside resort near Adelaide, William Haines shot Devine Vellie Schmidt. The girl was shot five times in the head. After shooting his victim, Haines walked into the bush and turned the revolver on himself, but was only slightly wounded. Jealousy was stated to be the motive of the crime.
