Test work has proceeded 2 steadily throughout the year and a large a number are ready for second dags. Preparations are hot being .made for the annual meeting, to be held shortly. 5 Several troop "good turns" have been s successfully carried out during the last ' few weeks and these have been greatly * appreciated. Hiking has commenced in • earnest. The Cuckoos, with S.M. were 1 the first to get away and made for Ruo- ' tewhenua (Waitake'res). A mixed patrol : hiked to Muriwai via Waitakeve and Horseman's last week-end. Night trekL king is encouraged, one party reaching ; the clearing in Hunua Gorge at a quarter i to one in the morning. Buzzer classes are held at the Den on Monday evenings t and social and wireless evenings every . Wednesday. The troop library now : contains 200 text books and 130 : others. The annual camp is again being held at Long Bay, and all are looking forward to a very happy time. During the winter the troop has tendered several games evenings to other troops and to the W.Y.M.S. Boys' BriThese liavc been greatly enjoyed, and in several cases return visits have' been -made to our own headquarters. We are extremely grateful to our S.M. for his assistance in transporting us about on these friendly missions. We would gladly welcome any troops who would like to join with us in this way. Lady Sliackleton, our patron, continues to show a keen interest in us, and we feel it a great honour to thus he so intimately associated with the heroic explorer whose name we hear. His motto, adopted by <rr» e *^ 00 P» * "Fortitudine Vincon'ius"— T3y Endurance we Conquer"—i s a hi" help to us when difficulties sometime? appear.
