PAPAKURA SCHOOL JUBILEE.

The Papakura Sports Queen (Miss M. Francis) held a wonderfully successful sock evening at her parents' (Mr. and Mrs. W. K. Francis) residence in Averill Street, Papakura. The hostess wore a charming frock of scarlet marocain with an overdress of black silk lace, and a posy. On the tennis lawn in front of the house quoits and pingpong were in full swing nearly all the evening, and some very keen competition took place. The lady champion was Miss R. Arbuckle, who won both the quoits and ping-pong in the ladies' division. In the men's championship Mr. M. Cole won the ping-pong game. Mr. T. Molloy was the winner of the men's quoits. An excellent dancing floor was provided, and the music of Mr. Philip Hardman's popular orchestra was greatly enjoyed. The most exciting incident of the evening wa3 the treasure hunt, when it was announced that a £1 note was among the hidden articles. Roughly 80 people were looking for the hidden treasure on the tennis lawn, which was brilliantly lighted. The £1 note, when found, was voted into the queen's funds. The spot waltz competition was won by Miss Ella Hichardson and Mr. T. Hyde. During the evening some of the guests joined in a game of bridge, there being several tables provided for card players. Mr. Alan Milliken won the bird's weeding competition. During the evening a very dainty supper was provided.
