Day Guard and his stable mate, Bright Comet, arc to fulfil their engagements at the Takapuna meeting. They will; be ridden by E. Ludlow in their respective races.

,H. Wiggins has been engaged to ride the following horses, on the first day of the Takapuna meeting: Serang, Nassoick, Whaka King, Automne, Speechless, add either Desert Glow or Phaola in the Alison Cup.

Awapuni trainer, G. W. New, frith thirteen successes, heads the list of winning trainers to date, while A- E. Ellis, vftio has ridden seventeen winners, occupies a similar position as regards the most successful jockey.

Acushla, who won her first race at the Thames meeting, has been doing well in the interval. The daughter of Prince ''Merriwee and Jolie Fille has grown, into, a solid - looking sort and appears to be on the improve.

The Lamb Is reported to be galloping well "down Taranaki way, and will be eeeil out at the Feilding meeting at 4je end of this month. The brown gelding usually runs his best races when the going is firm, and may pick up a stake at the meeting.

Automne will be a runner in the Cheltenham Handicap jon the opening day- of the Takapuna meeting. P. Conway has the' big brown gelding in tip-top condition and a winning turn for him is now overdue. H. Wiggins will ride Automne in the six furlong event.

Mosaic and Delightment, the two top weights in the Alison Cup, have failed to make the acceptance for that event. They have both had a, fair amount of hard racing during the last month, and no doubt that has something to do with their withdrawal from the big event.

Various estimates of Limerick's stake-winning record have been pub- ! lislied, but an authentic record compiled by the Christchurch "Press," states that it amounts to £23,813. At the same period Gloaming, who now Holds the Australasian stake-winning record, had won £15,758.

; Crowdennis hgd his first winning representative in Sydney recently in Beau l Dennis, who is a half-brother to the Magpie three-year-old in J. T. Jamieson s stable, Bold Front. Beau Dennis showed plenty of speed in his race, which, is not surprising when it is considered that his sire Crowdennis was si-notable sprinter in England.

He clocked Amounis ioirun the last four in 46f. If fractional iiipes were taken officially in the same way at Randwick there would be some remarkable gallops on record. % When Windbag ,wss in. his prime he was unofficially timed to run the test four of two weight-for-age races in 47 * (how these Magpie horses can travel when they are unwinding a sprint, writes "Poseidon." An even faster half-mile was credited to Beauford the day he defeated Eurythmic in the Autumn Stakes. Who will readily forget how Mr. Mackay's gelding, when given his head by Albert Wood, just after they had gone out of the straight, streaked lengths ahead of his rival! Beauford's was terrific, and he is privately reported to have run four furlongs in the middle of the race in 465. The actual half-mile record for Australasia is 455, )?hich Gloaming ran, to win a race at Trentham, Wellington, in 1921.
