"BLACK CAT CASE."
FURTHER ADJOURNMENT.
ABSENCE OF A WITNESS.
A further adjournment was granted "7 # Mr. McKean, S.M., in the caso in which Raymond Emanuel was charged with being in a state of intoxication while in charge of a car. The alleged offence was supposed to be committed about midnight on November 9 in Custom's Street, when a constable stated that he saw a car chasing a black cat. Mr. J. W. F. Dixon, who appeared for accused, told the magistrate this morning that an essential witness had not arrived from Helensville on account of a car breaking down. He therefore asked his Worship if the case could be adjourned. At first Mr. McKean demurred, and then decided that perhaps Monday would suit. . As .Mr. Dixon would be engaged in the Supreme Court on Monday and Tuesday of next week the magistrate reluctantly gave an adjournment till Wednesday next, bail being fixed at £100.
