MAORI MIX-UP.
MITA FABAONE FINED.
ASSAULTS DUSKY MADEN.
Mita Paraone, a husky native, was fined £3, or in default ten days' imprisonment, by Mr. W. R. McKean in the Police Court this morning.
_ Accused and the Maori, woman he was living with had an argument yesterday, the result being that some of the neighbours took a hand, and the male native was arrested for assault. Paraone was quite frank about it all, and the woman bore evidence of what had been done to her. She said she did not want to go back to live with the Maori, to which Mr. McKean replied that she need not unless she liked.
