(Received 12 noon.) SYDNEY, this da y. The annual report of the Department of Education shows that the expenditure for the year was £4.559,000, the highest T«>r anv year in the history of the Department. There were 95-59 teachers under the Department and the strength was more satisfactory than it has been for a considerable t:me. Effective enrolment was 319,535 during the period. In 1924-25 the mental test was carried out on 1912 schoolboys, and of that total 22 per cent were regarded as having an intelligent quotient of 100 or'more. 3G} per cent 90 to 100, or a total of oSi per cent of normal intelligence.
