Terrific Storm Strikes

INJURED CROWD HOSPITALS

WASHINGTON, November 17,
A cyclone struck the city following a terrific lightning and rain-storm. The section chiefly affected is situated about four miles from the White House. The wind tore roofs and fronts from houses, felled trees, damaged churches and industrial plants, and overturned automobiles. The authorities arc at present unable to estimate the casualties, but it is known a large number of persons were injured. , All available ambulances were rushed to the stricken districts and the suburban > hospitals are so crowded that the staffs j are unable to spare time to answer tele-, Ph Many"of'the 5 ' injured were also taken to the biff city institutions. Several of; the outlying localities were cut off. Mr. Coolidge left for Philadelphia during the storm.
