TAUMARUNUI, this day.

Phyllis Mary Sumpter, infant daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Sompter, died in the hospital last night as the result of burns received late yesterday afternoon.

Smoke was seen coming from the house and a passer-by entered and found the child's perambulator on fire. The fire was extinguished and the child, badly burnt* was removed to hospital.
