It was unfortunate for the Auckland Trottine Club tU»t fkweather on Saturday for the opening of the Auckland sea unfavourable but at the time of writing the indications^> that better cond.t.ons w,ll obtain to-morrow, when the second and conducing day of the spring fixture will be held. The racing on Saturday was of the best, the finishe. being characterised by a closeness which caused the interest to remain until the judge's Placing. .had been hoisted The card for to-morrow is similafto ha of Saturday except that ,n place of the Great Northern Derby there is a two miles handicap for unhoppled horses.
