LOCAL BODIES.

MOUNT EDEN.

The Mount Eden Borough Council met last evening, the Mayor (Mr. E. H. Potter) presiding.

Bowling Club's Lease.—The Finance Committee reported that the proposed lease of a portion of Nicholson Park to the Mount Eden Bowling Club had been discussed. The club had been asked to submit its proposal.

Road Improvements.—A report from the Works Committee was adopted, providing for the layout of Wembley and Lambeth Roads in bitumen in rotation with other work, ■ and' the improvement of Mount Pleasant Road at an early date. Borough Reserves.—A report was received stating that Potter's' Park was being topdressed, that the budding of a rockery and seats at Nicholson Park was in hand, and the planting of the Normanby Road reserve in grass and shrubs on the rockeries was proceeding. Tenders Accepted.—A tender from Isherwood and Bellam, of £2481, for the reconstruction of the portion of G-ranjie Road not already tar-sealed, was accepted. Also a tender of £137 from Stevenson and Son for a 6ewer at the corner of Herbert Road.
